Job Purpose:
The Shop Manager is responsible for Charlotte shop personnel and the oversight and completion of all shop-related repairs and facility maintenance to ensure a safe, functional, and profitable work environment.
Position Responsibilities:
• Ensure environmental, health and safety compliance within the shop service team by overseeing and managing shop upkeep, cleanliness, audits and tooling.
• Develop and lead technical service team in the shop needed to achieve service revenue and profitability goals by managing the onboarding, product training, development and performance of the service technicians. Coach, counsel and manage performance for all technical service personnel on a regular basis.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of standard processes for the shop to run smoothly and efficiently
• Provide internal oversight and coordination for all shop jobs to ensure satisfactory completion based on quotes, including pick up/delivery, rental coordination as needed, and shop job equipment check out process.
• Proactively providing updates to customers and other necessary parties on the progress of shop repairs and estimated completion dates.
• Responsible for ensuring manufacturer warranty processes and guidelines are followed.
• Responsible for shop job quotation for parts and labor and provide overall support to quotation process including incoming technician recommendations.
• Assist Parts department as needed for shipping and receiving, parts lookup, and general back up.
• Provide technical support for technicians, including providing service manuals, diagrams, researching wiring schematics, OEM interaction and serve as technician liaison to the Parts dept.
Skills/Qualifications:
• 5+ years of technical and mechanical experience preferably in a material handling dealership
• 3+ years of managerial experience
• Previous experience in quality control
• Experience with shop operations, including forklift assembly, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills are essential for identifying and resolving quality issues.
• Experience with documentation and record-keeping related to quality control and safety documentation activities.
• Must demonstrate the ability to use technology with little direction.
• Must possess a clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
